Meet Our Staff


Christine Besemer, RN, BSN – Clinical Director

Christine earned her nursing degree with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. Her nursing experience is well rounded. She has worked in orthopedic-neurological surgical units and a critical care step down unit.

Most recently, Christine served as the Clinical Supervisor in the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Berkshire Medical Center for six years. During that time, she obtained certification in Wound Care from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society™ – the gold standard in wound care certification.

Christine joined Basile Vein Specialists in October 2010 as the Clinical Director. Her responsibilities include assisting Dr. Basile with surgical procedures, injection sclerotherapy of surface veins, and patient education regarding vein disease and procedures.

On a personal note, when Christine is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and horses on their small country farm.


Julie Murray – Patient Coordinator

Julie has worked in the medical field for the past 15 years as a medical secretary, as an assistant and most recently as an administrative manager.

She joined Basile Vein Specialists in 2012 working in the front office. Julie’s responsibilities currently cover all aspects of patient information, including documents, scheduling, charge entry and billing. She is also the back-up assistant for surgical procedures and other clinical duties as needed by Dr. Basile and other members of the Basile Vein Specialists staff here in our office in the Berkshires.

Julie earned an Associate Degree from Berkshire Community College. In her spare time, Julie enjoys driving, boating, gardening, and spending time with her adorable grandson.


Kate O’Brien Basile – Practice Administrator

Kate has worked in health care since 1983, first as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and eventually transitioning to the administrative end of health-care delivery.

She graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and with a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Currently, Kate assists Dr. Basile in all administrative aspects of his practice including billing, contracting, and marketing.
