Endovenous Laser Thermal Ablation (EVLT)

Less pain, less downtime and scarring compared to vein stripping

Endovenous Laser Thermal Ablation (EVLT) is a minimally invasive, in-office alternative to traditional vein stripping.

Usually, the procedures take about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of the problem. Unlike vein stripping, EVLT only requires local anesthesia. Patients have minimal recovery times following the procedure, and the risk of complications is minimal.

What’s Involved?
We numb the vein areas to be treated so you will not feel any discomfort during the procedure. We then insert a small catheter or fiber, guided by ultrasound, painlessly into the vein. EVLT uses thermal energy or heat from laser light to close off the problem vein. Blood is rerouted to healthy veins, and your body absorbs the now inactive vein so you no longer feel or see it. The procedure is similar to the Venefitâ„¢ procedure but uses a different type of energy to close off the problem vein.

What Are The Results?
Following the procedure, we cover the treated areas with a compression stocking that you will need to leave on overnight. We encourage walking right after treatment. You can go back to full activities immediately. In addition to feeling better, you can also expect excellent cosmetic results. This technology has a 95-percent success rate.
