Sclerotherapy

A quick, in-office procedure to dissolve unsightly spider veins and varicose veins

We use sclerotherapy to effectively treat unsightly varicose and spider (telangiectasias) veins and improve skin appearance. The in-office procedure doesn’t require anesthesia and generally takes less than an hour.

What’s Involved?
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a chemical solution into problem veins. The chemical causes the veins to scar and collapse so blood no longer fills them.

What Are The Results?

Typically, a body will absorb the diseased vein and blood is rerouted to healthy veins within a few weeks. If you are treated for small varicose veins or spider veins, you can usually expect to see results in three to six weeks. Larger veins may require three to four months. Treated veins generally don’t come back, but new veins may appear.

We will schedule a follow-up visit after the procedure to check on how you are doing and decide whether you need additional sessions. Some patients require multiple treatments.

Wearing a compression stocking for two weeks following treatment provides the best results.
