Surface Laser Therapy

Erases spider veins without harming nearby healthy tissue

Cutaneous (surface) Laser Therapy is an easy, fast, and effective way to treat superficial spider veins. The in-office procedure requires only local anesthesia and usually takes less than 20 minutes.

What’s Involved?
We focus light energy on the problem veins at a specific wavelength. The light energy damages the veins, turning them into invisible scar tissue, while causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Over four to six weeks, your body reabsorbs the vein and it disappears.

We use the Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam system for smaller spider veins. When larger spider veins also are present, we may opt for surface laser therapy along with sclerotherapy. This is sometimes referred to as the “double injury” technique. Multiple treatment sessions are required for the best results. In these cases, we would also recommend that you wear compression stockings and avoid strong sun exposure for three weeks before and after each session.

What Are The Results?
Soon after the procedure, you may feel a slight bump on the skin that will disappear in a few hours. The area may also appear slightly red.

Depending on the size and number of veins, you may require two to six treatments. We can better determine your individual needs after your personalized comprehensive consultation and first treatment. Treatments are usually done four to six weeks apart.
