The Venefit™ Procedure

A safe, effective alternative to vein stripping

Venefit™ (formally known as VNUS Closure® and also referred to as Radiofrequency Endovenous Ablation) is a minimally invasive, in-office alternative to traditional vein stripping.

Usually, the procedures take about 90 minutes to an hour, depending on the problem. Unlike vein stripping, Venefit only requires local anesthesia. Patients have minimal recovery times following the procedure, and the risk of complications is minimal.

What’s Involved?
We begin by numbing the vein areas to be treated so you will not feel any discomfort during the procedure. We then insert a small catheter painlessly into the vein. Radiofrequency energy (or microwave energy) shrinks and closes the problem vein. Blood is rerouted to healthy veins, and your body absorbs the now inactive vein so you no longer feel or see it. The procedure is similar to Endovenous Laser Thermal Ablation (EVLT), but uses a different type of energy to close off the problem vein.

What Are The Results?
Following the procedure, we cover the treated areas with a compression wrap that you will need to leave on overnight. We encourage walking right after treatment. You can go back to full activities immediately. In addition to feeling better, you can also expect excellent cosmetic results. This technology has a 95-percent success rate.
